Burnout

By Ginger King, LCSW

Burnout isn’t just exhaustion…it’s the quiet erosion of our spirit, the dimming of our joy, and the slipping away of the belief that we are enough.

But even in that unraveling, there is a seed of resilience waiting to be watered. To heal is not to hustle harder, but to reclaim rest as resistance, connection as medicine, and boundaries as love in action.

The 3 Faces of Burnout:

Which one resonates most with where you’re at today?

1. Exhaustion

The body and mind feel depleted—sleep doesn’t restore, tasks feel heavier, and even small decisions can feel overwhelming. Energy is drained at the core.

2. Cynicism / Detachment

A protective wall goes up. Work, relationships, or responsibilities may feel distant or meaningless. Numbness replaces care, and withdrawal feels safer than connection.

3. Inefficacy

Self-doubt takes root. Accomplishments feel insignificant, confidence erodes, and it seems impossible to meet expectations—your own or others’.

At Grounded with Ginger, we honor the truth that rising from burnout is not a solo climb but a collective return to wholeness. May we remember: we are not defined by how much we endure, but by how tenderly we choose to restore. 🌿
